Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake detected near Mid-Indian Ridge on July 24

A 5.1 magnitude quake hit close to Mid-Indian Ridge around midday Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor shook the area at 08:01 UTC (13:01 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of Mid-Indian Ridge and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.8 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
