A 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Ternate on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which rattled the area at 20:16 UTC (05:16 local time), was centered approximately 122 km northwest of Ternate. It occurred at a depth of 35 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.8 but later upgraded to 5.0.
