A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Ternate on Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor rattled the area at 09:24 UTC (18:24 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was roughly 129 km west-northwest of Ternate and occurred at a depth of 35 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
