HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA — Friday evening, a preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Petrolia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 9:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was positioned roughly 35 miles west of Petrolia and occurred at a depth of 4 miles.
