The National Hurricane Center’s 10 pm Sunday advisory reported that the system changed into a tropical storm and was named Tropical Storm Barry before it devolved to a tropical depression with sustained winds of 35 mph. Barryfirst crossed the Gulf of Mexico, is now affecting Mexico. The 10 a.m. report was the first to confirm the system’s new name. Tropical Depression Barry is 15 miles south-southeast of Tampico Mexico. With maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, it is moving to the northwest at 9 mph.
“Continued weakening is forecast, and Barry should dissipate over eastern Mexico on Monday”, analysts explained.

The government of Mexico has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning from Boca de Catan southward to Tecolutla.

Rainfall. Barry or its remnant is expected to produce rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches, with isolated maximum totals of 10 inches,
Across portions of the Mexican states of Veracruz, San Luis Potosi,
And Tamaulipas through Monday. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain.
