System type: Tropical depression

The tropical depression was first addressed in an advisory by the National Hurricane Center at 10 a.m. Saturday. The tropical depression is in the Atlantic Ocean, 525 miles southwest of the Azores. The system, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, is moving north at 2 mph.

“This system is expected to generally move to the northeast for the next 24 to 36 hours, before turning toward the southwest in a couple of days,” meteorologists stated. They also said “Slight strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours, however after that gradual weakening is expected to occur.”
