System type: Tropical depression

At 10 p.m. Saturday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that the tropical depression is in the Atlantic Ocean, 475 miles southwest of the Azores. Packing maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, the system is tracking to the north-northeast at 5 mph.

“The depression is expected to generally move to the northeast through Sunday before turning eastward Sunday night,” meteorologists noted. “Some strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm on Sunday.” They also said “A weakening trend is expected to begin by Monday.”
