Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 strikes area close to San Juan, Peru on Sept. 22

A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected near San Juan at midday on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor shook at 18:46 UTC (13:46 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 40 km south of San Juan and a depth of 19 km.
