Thursday morning, a 5.3 magnitude quake was detected close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 22:38 UTC (09:38 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 167 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later upgraded it to 5.3.
