Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 hits area near Fais, Micronesia on Sept. 25

FAIS, Yap — Thursday afternoon, a 5.1 magnitude quake was detected close to Fais, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the region at 08:42 UTC (17:42 local time), was centered approximately 262 km northeast of Fais. It occurred at a depth of 70 km.

Over the last week, one tremor with a magnitude 5.1 was registered nearby. It was recorded close to the Mariana Islands, three days ago.
