Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes close to Palu, Indonesia on Sept. 2

A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported near Palu Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 23:53 UTC (07:53 local time), the region was rattled by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 38 km, with its epicenter about 55 km east of Palu.
