Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake detected close to Koga, Japan on June 16

A 5.3 magnitude quake hit close to Koga on Tuesday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which shook the area at 10:46 UTC (19:46 local time), was centered roughly 2 km southwest of Koga. It occurred at a depth of 64 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.5 but later downgraded to 5.3.
