Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude registered close to Shikotan, Russia on Feb. 11

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Shikotan Wednesday morning.

The tremor struck the area at 18:00 UTC (04:00 local time). It occurred at a depth of 74 km with the epicenter located roughly 83 km northeast of Shikotan.
