NAMATANAI DISTRICT, New Ireland Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted near Kokopo Wednesday morning.

At 17:43 UTC (03:43 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 82 km east of Kokopo.
