Update: Seismic activity on Aug. 1 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Ozernovskiy, Russia reported

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake shook near Ozernovskiy Friday morning.

The tremor struck at 20:32 UTC (07:32 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 169 km east-southeast of Ozernovskiy and a depth of 35 km.

Tremors last week

88 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above have been registered in the region over the last week, four of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The largest one was a 6.0 earthquake that rocked near Vilyuchinsk three days earlier.
