On Tuesday at 7:55 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated red flag warning valid for Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Eastern San Juan Mountains and La Garita Mountains including Wolf Creek Pass and Creede, Kiowa County including Eads and Prowers County including Lamar.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and relative humidity as low as 11%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.
