Published Jun 10, 2026

On Tuesday at 8:01 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Wednesday between noon and 8 p.m. for Yuma, Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity around 13%.

“Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control,” states the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
