An updated report from the National Weather Service was issued on Wednesday at 10:39 a.m. for snow showers until 11:30 a.m. for Eastern Clinton and Eastern Essex.
“At 10:38 a.m., snow showers were over Lake Champlain, moving east at 15 mph,” according to the NWS. “Low visibility may pose a hazard to motorists. Accumulating snow will make travel difficult.”
Locations impacted by the alert include Young Island, Wilcox Point, Shelburne Falls, Hazen Point, Sunset Island, West Milton, Malletts Bay, Winooski, Conner Bay, Kellogg Island, Grand Isle State Park, Juniper Island, Hoyt Point, Marble Island, Halfmoon Cove, Westford, Shelburne Bay, Colchester, Essex Junction Village and Great Back Bay. This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 80 and 109.
The NWS comments, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.”
Hazards include visibility less than a mile, and snow accumulation up to 1 inch per hour.
