Update: Prepare for fire danger in Hudson Valley until Tuesday evening

Published Apr 29, 2025

An updated report from the National Weather Service was issued on Tuesday at 3:43 a.m. for fire danger until 7 p.m. The alert is for Northern Westchester and Southern Westchester as well as Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties.

“Dry conditions with the combination of low relative humidity values between mostly 25 and 35 percent along with frequent wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph will create an elevated risk for fire spread this afternoon into early evening. Exercise caution handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Any fires that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly. This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials,” says the NWS.
