FUTABA DISTRICT, Fukushima — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Namie Tuesday morning.

A tremor shook the region at 00:30 UTC (09:30 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 34 km east-northeast of Namie and occurred at a depth of 49 km.

If you experienced the quake, you can submit a report through the USGS Felt Report form. So far, the agency has collected 15 online responses from individuals indicating that they felt the tremor. Weak shaking was registered, and residents in multiple cities — including Tokyo, Mito and Sendai — reported feeling the earthquake, according to the USGS DYFI report.

Last week’s quake

In the past week, a magnitude 5.9 quake was detected in the region, with the event occurring close to Tomioka three days ago.
