According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake shook close to Vilyuchinsk Friday morning.

The tremor jolted the area at 20:36 UTC (07:36 local time). It occurred at a depth of 18 km with the epicenter located roughly 185 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
