Friday morning, a 5.3 magnitude quake was reported near Santiago, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 01:50 UTC (09:50 local time). It occurred at a depth of 68 km with the epicenter situated approximately 16 km east of Santiago.
