NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Hihifo Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 02:59 UTC (14:59 local time), with its epicenter situated roughly 104 km north-northeast of Hihifo and a depth of 10 km.
