A 5.1 magnitude quake hit near South Sandwich Islands region on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 11:04 UTC (09:04 local time). The epicenter was of South Sandwich Islands region, at a depth of 10 km.
