Update: Seismic activity on March 3 – 5.3 magnitude earthquake close to Bluff, New Zealand recorded

INVERCARGILL CITY, Southland Region — A 5.3 magnitude quake jolted near Bluff on Tuesday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which shook the area at 11:55 UTC (22:55 local time), was centered about 299 km south-southwest of Bluff. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
