A 5.4 magnitude quake occurred close to Kokopo on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 18:09 UTC (04:09 local time), was centered approximately 197 km southeast of Kokopo. It occurred at a depth of 43 km.
