Update: Seismic activity on March 25 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia reported

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 22:25 UTC (09:25 local time), with its epicenter roughly 174 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 10 km.

Quakes last week

Last week, seven tremors of magnitude 2.5 or higher have been detected in the area. The strongest, a 5.2 magnitude quake, was recorded in the same region on Mar. 22.
