Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake registered close to Neiafu, Tonga on June 6

NEIAFU, Vava’u — A 5.1 magnitude quake hit close to Neiafu on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck at 14:09 UTC (03:09 local time), with its epicenter about 217 km east-northeast of Neiafu and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
