A 6.5 magnitude quake shook close to Balangonan on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor slammed the area at 11:34 UTC (19:34 local time). It occurred at a depth of 42 km with the epicenter roughly 44 km southwest of Balangonan. Seismologists first reported it as a 6.7 event, but later downgraded it to 6.5.
