Update: Earthquake of 5.3 magnitude recorded near Reykjanes Ridge on July 7

A 5.3 magnitude quake struck close to Reykjanes Ridge on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 05:55 UTC (03:55 local time), with its epicenter of Reykjanes Ridge and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

During the past week, there have been seven tremors of magnitude 2.5 or higher centered nearby. The most significant was a 5.0 magnitude earthquake reported in the same region on Jul. 4.
