Update: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude registered close to Ozernovskiy, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake struck near Ozernovskiy Wednesday morning.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 15:17 UTC (02:17 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 172 km east-southeast of Ozernovskiy, at a depth of 35 km.

Last week, there have been 36 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater centered nearby, four of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The biggest, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake, jolted near Severo-Kuril’sk prior to this quake.
