Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake shakes near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 23

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Wednesday morning.

At 20:01 UTC (07:01 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 35 km, with its epicenter roughly 117 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
