A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to South Sandwich Islands region Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor jolted the area at 04:28 UTC (02:28 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located near South Sandwich Islands region and occurred at a depth of 113 km.
