July 18: Earthquake measuring 5.1 shakes region near Puerto San José, Guatemala

SAN JOSÉ, Escuintla Department—the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Puerto San José at midnight on Friday.

At 06:49 UTC (00:49 local time), the area was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 102 km south of Puerto San José.
