SARANGANI, SOCCSKSARGEN — A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Nuing on Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 13:15 UTC (21:15 local time). The epicenter was about 8 km west-northwest of Nuing, at a depth of 22 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later upgraded it to 5.2.

The agency has so far received 11 reports via its online form from people who report they experienced weak shaking. According to the USGS DYFI report, several residents in and around the Buayan area reported feeling the quake.

Last week, there have been six quakes of magnitude 2.5 or higher centered nearby. The most significant was a 5.4 magnitude earthquake registered close to Sarangani on Jul. 11.
