Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake strikes near Noda, Japan on Jan. 28

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted close to Noda Wednesday evening.

A tremor shook the area at 10:45 UTC (20:45 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 107 km east of Noda and occurred at a depth of 27 km.
