According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Indian-Antarctic Ridge Friday morning.

The tremor shook the area at 17:52 UTC (01:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated west of Indian-Antarctic Ridge. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.

Last week, another magnitude 5.5 earthquake was reported in the region, also occurring close to Indian-Antarctic Ridge prior to this quake.
