A 5.3 magnitude quake was detected near Honchō Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

It was reported that a tremor shook the area at 19:34 UTC (05:34 local time). The epicenter was situated approximately 97 km south-southwest of Honchō, at a depth of 37 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later downgraded it to 5.3.
