Update: Lake wind advisory issued for Greater Lake Tahoe area until Monday night, winds gusting up to 40 mph

On Monday at 1:28 a.m. an updated lake wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. for Greater Lake Tahoe area.

“Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and waves 2 to 3 feet,” can be expected according to the NWS. “Winds will begin to increase earlier in the day today, with choppy conditions now likely to develop during the morning.”

“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” explains the NWS. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
