On Friday at 12:24 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Saturday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. The watch is for Parmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Bailey, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn and Garza counties.

Winds are forecasted to be southwest at 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph and humidity as low as 8 percent.

“Any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged,” says the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
