Published Mar 21, 2025

An updated fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 6:55 p.m. valid for Friday between noon and 7 p.m. for Yuma and Kit Carson counties.

Residents can expect winds to be northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 16 percent.

“Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” says the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
