The National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch at 8:40 p.m. on Thursday valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. for Kiowa County including Eads, Bent County including Las Animas, Prowers County including Lamar and Baca County including Springfield and Eastern Comanche Grasslands.

Expect winds to be west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 9%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” adds the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
