A fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 7:09 p.m. valid for Sunday between noon and 8 p.m. for Western Las Animas County including Trinidad and Thatcher.

Expect winds to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and relative humidity as low as 13%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” states the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
