Fire weather watch in place for Larimer/Boulder counties for Friday – gusts reaching 40 mph

On Thursday at 5:33 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Friday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Larimer and Boulder counties between 6,000 and 9,000 Feet.

Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 12%.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” adds the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
