The National Weather Service released a fire weather watch at 1:39 a.m. on Tuesday valid for Wednesday between noon and 7 p.m. for Jackson County below 9,000 feet and Grand and Summit counties below 9,000 feet.
Expect winds to be for the Red Flag Warning west 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, and for the Fire Weather Watch west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity for the Red Flag Warning between 12 to 17%, and for the Fire Weather Watch between 8 to 15%.
“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” states the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
