On Wednesday at 12:42 a.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch valid for Thursday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Winds are expected to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 12 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” describes the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
