At 12:42 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Thursday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Southern El Paso County including Fort Carson and Colorado Springs.

Winds are forecasted to be west 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph today. west winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph on Thursday and relative humidity as low as 12 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
