The National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch at 10:36 a.m. on Monday valid for Wednesday between noon and 9 p.m. for Little Snake, Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area, Gunnison Basin and Southwest Colorado Upper West Forecast Area.
The NWS states that the warning was issued for gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels. Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity 8 to 13%.
“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
