At 3:43 a.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Saturday between noon and 8 p.m. for Larimer and Boulder counties between 6,000 and 9,000 Feet and North Douglas County below 6,000 feet/Denver/West Adams and Arapahoe counties/East Broomfield County as well as Morgan County.

Residents can expect winds to be west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 9 percent.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” comments the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
