An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 3:04 a.m. valid for Thursday between noon and 10 p.m. for Central Colorado.
Winds are forecasted to be southwest 5 to 15 mph, but gusts to 40 mph in/near any showers and thunderstorms.
“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” states the NWS.
The full list of affected locations includes:
• Jackson County below 9,000 feet
• South and Southeast Grand/West Central and Southwest Boulder/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Summit/North and West Park counties above 9,000 feet
• Grand and Summit counties below 9,000 feet
• Central and Southeast Park County
• Larimer and Boulder counties between 6,000 and 9,000 Feet
• Jefferson and West Douglas counties above 6,000 feet/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Northeast Park counties below 9,000 feet
• West Jackson and West Grand counties above 9,000 feet
• South and East Jackson/Larimer/North and Northeast Grand/Northwest Boulder counties above 9,000 feet
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
